Started the Safari today just to get fluids and stuff moving around since it's been sitting for a while now. It wasn't having it.

First the battery was dead. Okay, press the Battery Buddy and bring it back to life, no big deal.

Then I tried to start it.

It sat there and cranked and cranked for about 30 seconds. When it finally came to "life" it was barely turning, puffing smoke out the back, and shaking like no tomorrow. It ssslllooowwwlllyyy started moving faster at normal RPMs and stopping the shaking. Never stopped completely, and seemed like it was missing a cycle in the firing order.

Good 'ole 4.3 might be dying. At 148,000 miles, which is NOTHING for those motors. Weird.

Could just have a bad tank of gas in it too, who knows.

Run Sea Foam through it. cant hurt.

Serious question. Would you possibly be able to help me fix the column shifter on my dad's '99 Suburban? I know you're the GM aficianado round these parts and I'm not too well versed in newer cars.

Seriously, if you helped me fix this, I would totally throw some money your way.

Kreen. Go buy kreen. Also how old is the gas? Ethanol gas goes bad fairly quickly.

I put gas in it right before I stopped driving it 3 weeks ago come Monday.

Its a 99 Suburban 1500 for reference. He came home from work yesterday and the car wouldn't shift out of drive into park. He just turned the car off and left the keys in the ignition until I got home. I took a look at it and couldn't get it to shift into anything but the lower gears. I climbed under the car while he applied upward pressure on the shifter and I was able to move the shifter that is directly on the transmission into park. Has the shift cable stretched or something?
